Would You Want to Be a Teacher?

The NY Times’ Learning Network asks students to answer and debate this pinless grenade of a question: “Would you want to be a teacher?”

I’m sticking with a severely reinforced version of my standard answer to that question: “No way! There is no possibility of any meshing between the children of America and my utter lack of a patience gland!” Plus, the post-apocalyptic landscape that is public education today isn’t really my style. I prefer my apocalypses (apocalypsi?) nuclear flavored.

Probably a good thing I’m not a student and won’t be debating current issues on the NY Times’ Student Opinion page. It’s an excellent idea for an online information and debate platform, I must say.
